Josh Landers departed West Ham United to join Boreham Wood on loan for the rest of the season.
Given the risk of relegation that faced the Hammers, and still does, it will come as very little surprise that only a handful of youth players have been given a chance.
Among those who weren’t was Landers, who was instead sent out on loan to Boreham Wood, not long after having scored against them in the National League Cup final.
The teen has scored once in four appearances for the National League side since moving there in March, and will remain there until the end of the season.
However, with West Ham set for a big summer of recruitment, there will be questions as to what comes next for him, among several other youth stars.

How has Josh Landers fared at Boreham Wood?
Prior to his move away from the Hammers, Landers had nine goals and three assists in 30 appearances across all competitions.
Many thought that he would secure a loan to the EFL, but the National League was his destination, and it hasn’t worked out yet.
Landers has made an impression, but the lack of gametime in his first four games will be a concern.

Goals 7
Shots on target 13
Chances created 10
Duels won 44
The teen has played just 33 minutes of football since his move there, with one goal to his name.
West Ham will have been hoping that a loan further down the footballing pyramid would have given him regular access to senior minutes, though that has not been the case at all.

And his lack of involvement will only make this summer even more difficult for him and West Ham.
What’s next for Landers at West Ham?
At 19 years old, Landers needs to be playing regular senior football, and if that isnt going to come at Boreham Wood, the Hammers need to find a club to offer it.
However, the standard of football also has to be a consideration.
The National League is limited in its quality, and there is a case to be made that he would be better suited playing Premier League 2 football regularly, as opposed to being drip-fed minutes in a league at a similar standard.
