**West Ham United defender Konstantinos Mavropanos looks set to sign a new long-term contract in East London.**
That’s according to our very own ExWHUEmployee. He said: “West Ham are readying a new deal for Mavropanos following his personally impressive season.
“The club feel he’s now stepping up into a more senior role within the squad under Nuno, and it’s felt he deserves to be rewarded now as a higher profile player.”
This is absolutely brilliant news for the club. Dinos has been immense at times this season. Obviously, he didn’t get off to the best start, like every player, but he’s probably been the biggest part of our resurgence in the second half of the season.
He’s stepped his game up to the next level, not only since he’s been paired up with Disasi, who has also been a revelation, but before that, he’s been a crucial reason for us having a fighting chance of staying up.
He is more than deserving of a new deal. However, I can’t see anything being signed before the end of the season. If we are in the Championship, he almost certainly won’t be signing a new deal, in fact, after his sensational performances as of late, he’d probably leave.
Hopefully, however, it will all go to plan, and he will be celebrating a new contract, the Hammer of the year award, along with Premier League survival, come the end of May.
Hammer of the year is always a subject that’s spoken about this time of the year, even when we’re struggling and have more important things to focus on. If the vote were conducted right now, I think it would be close between Mavropanos and Crysencio Summerville.
I think whatever player performs better between now and the end of the season will nick it, and at the moment, that looks like it’s going to be the Greek international.
