'New deal': West Ham 'readying' contract offer for Hammer of the Year contender

Dinos Mavropanos’ improvement under Nuno Espirito Santo has played a key role in West Ham’s recent form.

Mavropanos has formed a solid partnership with Axel Disasi, keeping clean sheets against Wolves, Bournemouth and Burnley.

The Hammers have now made an important decision on Mavropanos’ long-term future, with two years left on his deal.

West Ham prepare to offer Dinos Mavropanos new contract

West Ham are reportedly preparing to offer Dinos Mavropanos a new contract at the end of the 2025/26 season.

The Greece international was considered a flop signing only a few months ago, but he has recently turned his Hammers career around.

Mavropanos is now one of Nuno’s most important players and would leave a huge void if he were to leave the club.

While West Ham will wait until after the Premier League relegation battle is over to enter talks, they are determined to keep the defender.

Is your view of the Tim Steidten era changing? Or has the damage been done? 💸

Tim Steidten technical director of West Ham United ahead of the Premier League match between West Ham United FC and Aston Villa FC at London Stadium on August 17, 2024 in London, England.

“The club feel he’s now stepping up into a more senior role within the squad under Nuno, and it’s felt he deserves to be rewarded now as a higher profile player.”

Even though Mavropanos is under contract for two more seasons, it makes sense to tie him down to a longer deal.

This update should deter other teams from considering a move for him in the summer transfer window.

It remains to be seen whether Mavropanos is interested in penning a contract extension, but he certainly looks happy in East London.

His decision could also depend on whether West Ham can avoid relegation in the final six games of the season.
