Daniel Cummings may face an uncertain future after just 12 months at West Ham United.
The 20-year-old sealed a summer switch to the London Stadium after agreeing a pre-contract with the Hammers.
His long-term spell with Celtic came to an end after making just one senior appearance, with that coming in the Champions League last season.
There was an expectation that the Scotland under-19 international would feature in some capacity in the Irons’ first team this season.
That hasn’t been the case, and now West Ham have shown interest in Heittor Vinicius of Palmerias, in a deal that could spell bad news for Cummings.

There has been a need for a consistent striker at the London Stadium for years, but it has never quite been found.
Nuno Espirito Santo has looked to Taty Castellanos and Pablo since January, and both have had mixed spells in claret and blue.

The latter may soon be joined by a fellow countryman as the Irons look set to turn to South America for inspiration once again.
The East London outfit are keeping tabs on Vinicius, according to Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, with monitoring of the Palmerias wonderkid continuing.
He recently netted a hat-trick at the under-20 level against Bahia, further proving his prowess and why various European sides are interested in his signature.
West Ham could battle Manchester City to sign Vinicius, but his arrival would likely lead to Cummings’ departure in the coming months.
Cummings could leave West Ham just one year after Celtic exit
The young Scot racked up 39 goals in 62 matches for Celtic B, putting himself on a pedestal to seal a move away from Parkhead.
The Hammers made the move and sealed his signature in E20, but things haven’t truly worked out after failing to make a first-team squad to this stage.
He has scored three in the Premier League 2 this season, but he may have expected bigger things moving down south.

Cummings’ expectations could be dashed even further if West Ham are to sign Vinicius, as he will likely demand minutes ahead of the ex-Celtic ace.
The summer signing may see his future away from East London, just 12 months after making his move to the capital.
