Everton may wait to see how Estoril centre-back Kevin Boma reacts after returning from injury next season.
The Togo international picked up an injury and is expected to be sidelined until the end of the current campaign.
Record reports on 16 April that the Toffees were unsuccessful in their pursuit of the 23-year-old in the winter transfer window, but his fitness issue has led to a decline in interest in the player.
Teams will likely want to see how Boma does next season before reigniting their pursuit of the defender, and the Blues could once again be in the race to sign him.
David Moyes could lose Michael Keane at the end of the season, but an immediate approach for the Estoril centre-back wouldn’t be sensible after a long injury layoff.

If Boma ends up staying at Estoril and doesn’t renew his contract, the Togo defender will have one year left on his deal with the Portuguese outfit, potentially giving the Blues a chance to pull off a bargain deal.
The Merseyside outfit have decent options at centre-back with James Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Keane and Jake O’Brien, and there are clearly other areas they should focus their budget on.
