Re-grading Tottenham's summer 2024 transfer window after 2 rollercoaster seasons

It has been nearly two years since the summer 2024 transfer class came to Tottenham Hotspur, and, since then, Spurs have been 17th and now 18th in the Premier League. Spurs are sliding into an abyss, and their transfer decisions over the past several years have a lot to do with it.

So after nearly two full seasons, let's take a look back and grade this transfer class of three notable, permanent incoming players.

CM Archie Gray, A-

------------------

The clear star of this transfer class, Archie Gray has already proven to be worth the 30 million pounds Tottenham paid for him. Young, talented playmaking defensive midfielders are rare and highly valued, and you can argue that Gray is already worth double that amount if clubs like Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are indeed involved.

What's especially telling about Gray's quality and status to grow into a future captain for Spurs is the fact that he still plays so well for Tottenham even when the team are at their worst. So much good emanates from him, and he's a real brave character with a football IQ that exceeds that of his more experienced midfield partners.

FW Wilson Odobert, B-

---------------------

Tottenham Hotspur supporters can only hope that Wilson Odobert will be OK after his ACL tear, because we have seen many attacking talents have their quality sapped by losing their explosiveness after this injury, notably former Real Madrid phenom Marco Asensio.

Before his injury, Odobert was showing real quality in the Tottenham attack on the right wing after Mohammed Kudus's injury. He is versatile and talented in those short areas. For about 25 million pounds, he has been a decent punt.

ST Dominic Solanke, D-

----------------------

What saves Dominic Solanke from getting a straight up "F" is the fact that he played a crucial role, especially in the clutch, in last season's Europa League title triumph, and it is difficult to take that away from the big No. 9.

But despite a few flashes this season, Solanke has been horrible, and he is getting even worse in the relegation fight. Even last season, he was pretty lousy, too, overvalued like many of his teammates by buoying his performances in a few Europa League knockout games against mediocre competition.

A record signing at 65 million pounds, Solanke is not a true top striker in the Premier League, and he's simply nowhere near a good enough goal scorer.
