According to reports in Premier League media, Manchester United could have a clear path in their pursuit of Brighton and Cameroon star Carlos Baleba.
The Red Devils are believed to be in for a major midfield haul at the end of the campaign, as they look to improve their squad for next season.
While United are said to be in search for a permanent coach for the immediate future, the club has earmarked their midfield department as an area of concern.
With Brazilian midfielder Casemiro leaving the club at the end of the season, along with Manuel Ugarte’s future being uncertain, United have put their feelers out for a couple of reinforcements in the next transfer window.
The likes of Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali and Adam Wharton are believed to be on their list, while Baleba has been a long-term target for the English giants.
According to GiveMeSport, Brighton could lower their initial £115 million price tag for the 22-year-old following a below par showing throughout the 2025/26 season.
As it stands, Baleba will enter the final two years of his current deal, with the report mentioning that the African star being described as a better player than Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo.
With it being understood that personal terms have already been agreed, United could have an easier negotiating process for the player in the next couple of months.
