Sam Kerr scored her 75th international goal as Australia won the FIFA Series 2026 with a 2-0 victory over Kenya in Nairobi.
This was the first time that Australia had taken part in a FIFA series tournament, with head coach Joe Montemurro describing it as 'invaluable preparation' for the 2027 Women's World Cup in his pre-match press conference.
The FIFA Series is a biennial invitational football tournament which gives national teams from different confederations the chance to play against each other in friendly matches.
Montemurro chose to rest Blues wing-back [Ellie Carpenter](/en/teams/profile/ellie-carpenter) during this international break alongside Manchester City's Mary Fowler and West Ham United's Katrina Gorry.
Opening their campaign with a 5-0 victory over Malawi, the Matildas next faced hosts Kenya, who worked hard to keep Australia from scoring in the opening period of the match.
It was Kerr who managed to break the deadlock after 25 minutes, when the ball fell to her at the back post from a corner. Her shot slid under the Kenyan goalkeeper and rolled into the back of the net.
Clare Wheeler added the second after 54 minutes, and Kerr was switched for Remy Siemsen with five to play, as Australia ended their international fixtures in this window with a trophy.
