For the first time ever, the ePremier League Grand Finals took place at Dock10 in Salford as City duo Matias Bonanno and Jafonso looked to defend the prestigious title.
First, they faced Nottingham Forest in the quarter-finals before progressing to the final four and overcame difficult duo Marley and Tom Leese who represented Tottenham Hotspur.
It set up for an historic final that saw former team-mates Bonanno and Tekkz go head-to-head in the second leg, with extra-time needed to determine the best ePremier League team.
It was Bonanno who carved his, and City’s name, into the history book as we became the only team to lift the trophy for three successive seasons.
And Jafonso made history himself by becoming the first Portuguese to win the English title.
