Newcastle United chiefs will not allow another Alexander Isak-style transfer drama to play out at St James' Park again this summer.
The Magpies have confirmed that they have not received any transfer request from Anthony Gordon. What is clear is that – ahead of a transfer window in which clubs know Newcastle have to sell – Gordon, who came close to leaving for Liverpool two years ago, would be a player that could see some of football's vultures circling for his signature, although bidding would start at £70m.
The Toon hierarchy is aware of stories that have emerged in the past few days linking Gordon with Bayern Munich. But unlike the Isak saga, Eddie Howe, sporting director Ross Wilson or CEO David Hopkinson have not been approached by the Gordon camp for a transfer request. Gordon has not agitated for a move and trained normally on Thursday.
Howe has no concerns over Gordon's attitude in training, and it is all a far cry from Isak refusing to come to work or downing tools. At the moment, Gordon does not have a move to consider despite Bayern's interest because there is no offer on the table.
Whether he would be sold before the World Cup – where his value could rise if he hits the heights in the US with England – remains to be seen.
However, there is an acceptance that star names could go this summer with Newcastle knowing they have to sell to buy.

Hopkinson made it clear during the international break that any player leaving under his watch will go "on our terms" meaning Newcastle won't be selling on the cheap.
When asked about whether he could quit Newcastle for Arsenal or Man City, after links earlier this year, Gordon told Chronicle Live during an interview in Baku after the rout of Qarabag in Azerbaijan: "About me? I haven't seen them. What are they saying?
"It's the same old, same old. I think they just pick names out of a hat. They do (names out of the hat). I haven't heard anything; they might want to tell me before they tell you (the media)."
Unlike summer 2024, when Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh were sold to Nottingham Forest and Brighton & Hove Albion, respectively, there will be no panic transfers or fire sales.
Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes and Tino Livramento are other Toon stars that could be sold this summer if the price is right.
Howe faces the media on Friday morning and will undoubtedly face questions about Gordon's future.
United and Gordon's agency were approached for comment today and while Howe will be left to face the music, it has been made clear that the forward has not slapped in a request for a move.
