The infamous Hill Dickinson Stadium tunnel looks set to make a return for this weekend’s Merseyside Derby.

Everton will be hosting the game against their city rivals for the very first time in their new Hill Dickinson Stadium.

It is a game that has a lot resting on it following UEFA’s confirmation of five Champions League spots for the Premier League.

Everton fans are preparing an incredible welcome for their players on the team coach ahead of Sunday’s game on the docks.

Ahead of its unveiling, the club scrapped the plastic tunnel at their new home following negative fan feedback.

However, images from inside the Hill Dickinson Stadium appear to show the tunnel has made a return ahead of the Merseyside Derby.

There may well be some safety concerns for the visiting players, who would be entering the pitch at a close distance to the home fans.

But that feels like an extreme measure, with Everton supporters expected to bring a hostile but not a violent atmosphere on Sunday.

Ian Wright has been impressed with the Hill Dickinson Stadium, but this is a feature which was quickly shot down by the home fans last year.
