The idea of Newcastle United selling Anthony Gordon this summer could increase their chances of keeping Sandro Tonali away from Manchester United.
Fans could be forgiven for feeling rather miserable about the state of things at Newcastle United right now.
Hard choice – but who are you selling if you were in charge? 🤔
Feel free to include anyone not pictured!

After a largely miserable season on Tyneside, several key players are expected to leave Newcastle this summer.
Gordon has been tipped for a move to Bayern Munich, while Tonali and Tino Livramento have been touted as targets for leading Premier League clubs.
Indeed, Manchester United are interested in Tonali, but selling Gordon could feasibly help the Magpies keep the Italian.
Selling Gordon could help Newcastle keep Tonali
According to The Daily Telegraph, Gordon leaving would actually increase the chances of Tonali staying on Tyneside.
That doesn’t mean both will not leave, just that Newcastle would likely not have to sell two of their star players to fund this summer’s recruitment.

The report does add, however, that Livramento is likely to be sold if an acceptable offer is made for the England international.
Unlike with Gordon and Tonali, Newcastle do not have much power over Livramento’s future because the defender will only have two years on his contract to run later this summer.
Newcastle confident in Tonali’s stance
Tonali has been linked with a move away from Newcastle ever since he arrived, with the Italian media keen to constantly push the idea of a potential return to Serie A.
Still, Newcastle reportedly believe that Tonali would accept his fate if he stayed at the club this summer.
Again, that’s not to suggest that the idea of a move away does not appeal to him, just that there are no major concerns about the consequences if one is not forthcoming.
The mood music would certainly suggest that at least one key player is leaving Newcastle this summer. It will be interesting to see if any others follow.
