Peter Bosz
Brighton and Hove Albion defender Olivier Boscagli has received a glowing recommendation from former manager Peter Bosz, who says he’s the best he ever worked with.
Voetbal Primeur report comments from Bosz on the 28-year-old regarding the Brighton defender on the De Rood Wit Podcast.
PSV success
Olivier Boscagli joined Brighton in the summer transfer window on a free transfer after six impressive years at PSV Eindhoven.
The versatile player joined the Dutch side in 2019 and went on to make 204 appearances in total for the club, winning two titles, two Dutch cups and three Dutch Super Cups.
He was a key player under Peter Bosz, making 90 appearances under him. That’s the most he’s managed under any manager during his career to date.
Bosz is a major fan of his former player, insisting he’s one of the best he’s ever worked with.
“We had Boscagli here. He wasn’t the fastest player, quite the opposite, in fact,” he said.
“But when you look at how he was able to excel within this style of play… He was a magnificent footballer.
“He is the man with the best technique of any player I have ever worked with. That is absolutely true.”
Brighton struggles
The strange thing is that Brighton don’t seem to have recognised Olivier Boscagli’s strengths this season. The 28-year-old has barely featured for the Seagulls.
To date he’s only managed 14 appearances in all competitions, totalling 908 minutes. He’s started just six of 32 possible games in the Premier League this season. The last of those was in the 2-0 win over Burnley last weekend.
He appears to have failed to convince Fabian Hürzeler of his talents, which his former manager insists are plentiful. There was even talk of a rapid exit in January.
Perhaps Bosz should put a phone call into the Brighton boss to try and get his former player back on track on the South Coast.
