Wayne Rooney says Everton need to take a different approach to this Merseyside Derby

Wayne Rooney wants to see Everton on the front foot in Sunday’s Merseyside Derby.

David Moyes’ side need to pick up three points in their hunt to land a spot in the top five this season.

Some will feel this is the perfect time to play their local rivals, who have lost four of their last five games.

What is your prediction for this weekend’s Merseyside Derby? 🫣

“Yeah, Everton, though, listen, Everton have done well, I think. I half expected them to do better with Moyesy, and we’ve done well this season, and Liverpool haven’t done so well, and they’re struggling a bit. So, yeah, I think this is one where Everton have to go and try and win, go on,” he said on The Wayne Rooney Show.

“Have a bit of arrogance about them, because I think Everton have, over the last few months, been a better team, and the new stadium, the atmosphere has been great in the new stadium, so just going there with a bit of belief that you can win.”

Everton supporters will set a big atmosphere for the derby on Sunday, with fans set to line the streets to welcome their players to the stadium.

More than just three points are on the line for the Blues, given it is the first-ever Merseyside Derby at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

But it is clear that Liverpool’s poor form has a lot of people around the game feeling that Everton have a good chance at taking all three points.
