'Some changes': Arne Slot quizzed on how many players Liverpool will sign in summer transfer window

Liverpool return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon, taking on bitter rivals Everton away from home.

The Reds really need a win to ease some of the pressure in the race for Champions League football, but the Merseyside derby is predicted to end as a draw by multiple pundits.

Ahead of what is expected to be a close game, Slot held his pre-match press conference on Friday morning and spoke about transfers, but did not give an exact number when asked how many additions would be made in the next window.

Is a fifth-place finish enough to warrant Arne Slot remaining Liverpool manager?

Arne Slot quizzed on transfer plans ahead of Everton vs Liverpool

Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah are set to leave Liverpool after 2025/26, which will leave Slot short of left-back and right-wing options.

However, when quizzed on summer transfer dealings when speaking live at his pre-Everton presser, Slot was coy about exact plans.

He said: “This is already a very strong team, but it takes some changes because of what you just said with Robbo and Mo leaving, but as I said, many times, the future looks bright for us.”

Asked about the number of players Liverpool could sign, he continued: “I don’t think in numbers, [he thinks in] areas and which players we already know will leave, and let’s see what happens in the summer.

“We are a trading club, so let’s see what’s actually going to happen in the summer, and we’ll also know better what we need to bring in.”

Later in the press conference, he continued: “We know that Robbo is going to leave, we know that Mo is going to leave, so that means changing two players. But we also know that Kostas Tsimikas is coming back.

“The first aim is to see how we are acting in the position of Mo, if we want to replace him with a similar player or if we do something differently. At this moment in time I don’t think there’s a chance of others leaving, of course there’s the Ibou situation. So then there might not be such a big need of trading a lot if you don’t need to bring many players in.”

You can only pick ONE player for Liverpool to sign this summer, who is it?

Which players are Liverpool linked with

Unsurprisingly, given Robertson and Salah’s impending departures, left-backs and wingers are being mooted going into the transfer window opening.

Yan Diomande commented on a move to Anfield this week as he continues to be mentioned as an option.

Yankuba Minteh is an alternative to Diomande, with the Brighton star potentially available for over £60m.

Elsewhere, RB Leipzig left-back David Raum could be cheaper than Antonee Robinson, who is a long-term target of Liverpool’s.
