Justin Rose has challenged lifelong Evertonian Tommy Fleetwood to a game of golf inside Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton announced on Thursday that their new 52,769 capacity home on the Mersey waterfront will offer Upper Deck Golf – the chance to hit a series of approach shots from different vantage points around the ground – in what is a first outside of North America.

The initiative is a four-day event to coincide with the 154th edition of The Open Championship which is taking place at another iconic Merseyside sporting venue, Royal Birkdale, at the same time.

The event at Hill Dickinson Stadium has piqued the interest of world number four Rose, who took to social media to lay down the gauntlet in a light-hearted fashion to Europe Ryder Cup team-mate Fleetwood, who is a passionate Blue.

Posting on X (formerly Twitter), the 45-year-old Chelsea fan retweeted Everton’s initial post and tagged in Fleetwood’s account and Everton’s account by proclaiming: “I’m in the area that week!

“Fancy a match Tommy Fleetwood before The Open? Sure Everton can sort us a tee time!”

Everton for their part, responded by posting: “You are both very welcome – we look forward to seeing you at our world-class waterfront home!”
