Marcos Senesi transfer update & 2 midfielders linked – Latest Liverpool FC News

Liverpool have been reported to be interested in Crystal Palace‘s Adam Wharton and Tottenham‘s Archie Gray, but previously-linked Marcos Senesi could be moving to north London.

English midfield duo linked to Liverpool

With Curtis Jones potentially on the move this summer, Alexis Mac Allister not playing well and Wataru Endo entering the last year of his contract, Liverpool are said to be “exploring their midfield options.”

That is according to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, who has strong connections to sporting director Richard Hughes.

Like the *Mail*‘s Simon Jones earlier this week, Crook said Liverpool are interested in Wharton, though he could cost up to £80 million from Palace.

In addition, Mail writer Matt Barlow has mentioned Gray‘s name in connection to the Reds, writing that “Liverpool and Bayern Munich have eyes on” him.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been one of the few players to emerge with any credit for Tottenham this season, playing mostly as a holding midfielder and starting 27 matches.

Should they go down, it would make sense for Liverpool to look at a cut-price deal.

Liverpool’s players may have put in the work against PSG, albeit coming up short in quality, but there has been a general disconnect between club and fans this season. James Nalton examines why:

“Where players live may seem like only a small issue, and it’s not the first time Liverpool players have lived out of town, but everything adds up.

“Just as the best way to learn a language is to live in the place where it is spoken, you can only truly understand the culture of a city and its football clubs by spending time in it.

“It is no wonder the players sometimes seem detached, and this means that when there is a dip in performances, even when there is not a dip in effort, they are afforded less leeway because there is no connection between them and the fans.”

Liverpool FC: On this day

It was on April 17, 1939 that the legendary Billy Liddell signed for Liverpool as a professional. He scored 228 goals in 534 games, carrying the club through a tricky period.

Eighteen years later, in 1957, Tommy Lawrence signed as an amateur. He would go on to become a great goalkeeper under Bill Shankly, winning two league titles and the club’s first-ever FA Cup in 1965.

Finally, Liverpool’s last game played on this date was in 2023, when the Reds beat Leeds 6-1 at Elland Road as Diogo Jota and Mo Salah both netted braces, along with singular strikes from Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez.
