Who is Esmir Bajraktarevic? Bosnian media claim Everton have tracked £4m star for ages

Everton have employed a Bosnia international in each of the last two decades.

Muhamed Besic became the first Bosnian Toffee after arriving from Ferencvaros in 2014, before Asmir Begovic was signed from Bournemouth in 2021.

Now – according to Sport Sport in Bosnia – Everton are keeping a very close eye on another Bosnia international in Esmir Bajraktarevic.

Everton have scouted Esmir Bajraktarevic for “a long time” with summer deal possible

The Bosnian news outlet claim Everton monitored the 21-year-old throughout the “entire” FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, as Bosnia ultimately defeated Wales and Italy to secure a spot at the tournament this summer.

Sport Sport add that Everton also sent scouts to watch Bajraktarevic in action for PSV Eindhoven on several occasions. The fact the Toffees – who also like Abdul Fatawu – have kept an eye on the winger both on the international scene and in domestic football suggests there is strong admiration for his ability.

The report adds that the PSV Eindhoven No.19 has a value of €5m (£4m) as things stand, but with a contract running until July 2029, the Dutch side could demand a lot more this summer.

Sport Sport also mention that Bournemouth are keen on Bajraktarevic, but with Andoni Iraola leaving the Vitality Stadium this summer, Everton would seemingly have a better chance of agreeing a deal.

Bajraktarevic also has experience of playing on the left, as an attacking midfielder and also as a striker, so he would also bring plenty of versatility to the Hill Dickinson Stadium if The Friedkin Group can strike an agreement with PSV Eindhoven.
