Confirmed: Eight Liverpool players now set to miss Merseyside Derby against Everton

Liverpool have confirmed that they will be without eight first-team players for Sunday’s Merseyside Derby.

The Reds have had injury issues all season long, with their problems once again exacerbated in midweek after Hugo Ekitike picked up a devastating Achilles rupture.

Ekitike will, of course, be one of the eight to miss the clash with Everton, and the Frenchman will be joined by seven Liverpool teammates who may otherwise have featured.

How do you feel about Alexander Isak starting against Everton?

And with Hugo Ekitike out, who should be Liverpool's front three at the Hill Dickinson?

Liverpool missing at least three potential starters v Everton

Along with Ekitike, Arne Slot already confirmed that Joe Gomez will not be fit to face Everton after being subbed on then subbed off against Paris Saint-Germain.

Liverpoolfc.com relay news that half-a-dozen more players will not feature either, ranging from nailed-on starters to young hopefuls.

Alisson Becker is still not ready to return, while Conor Bradley is the other player who likely would have started here but cannot play.

Meanwhile, Wataru Endo and Giovanni Leoni will probably miss the rest of the season after ankle and knee issues respectively.

Despite not being available all season, Stefan Bajcetic is named as another absentee, while Jayden Danns’ absence is notable in light of Liverpool losing another striking option in Ekitike.

Everton, on the other hand, are said to be at full strength aside from having Jack Grealish out with a foot injury.

Though many of these players are squad fillers for Slot, having so little depth in reserve for another difficult Premier League game will mean supporters head to Everton’s new ground potentially fearing the worst.
