Liverpool team predicted to face Everton in the Premier League at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Liverpool prepare for one of the biggest fixtures of their season when they face Everton in the first Merseyside derby at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The Reds head into the clash against the backdrop of their Champions League elimination at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals. Pressure remains on head coach Arne Slot, despite guiding Liverpool to the Premier League title last term. The Reds have lost 17 games in all competitions and have a battle to qualify for next term’s Champions League.
Everton are in pursuit of European qualification in their own right and head into the game with a strong chance of victory. A win for the Toffees would see them move with three points of Liverpool.
Slot has injury problems once again, with Hugo Ekitike rupturing his Achilles against PSG and faces 7-9 months on the sidelines. Joe Gomez is also unavailable for face Everton.
With everything in mind, here’s a look at how Liverpool could line-up against Everton.
GK - Giorgi Mamardashvili
With Alisson Becker still injured, Mamardashvili will remain between the posts. Needs to be better on the ball than he was against PSG.
RB - Dominik Szoboszlai
With Joe Gomez injured and Jeremie Frimpong underwhelming against PSG, Slot may just revert to playing his most trusted player in the full-back position.
CB - Ibrahima Konate
Was excellent in the second leg against PSG and needs to deliver a similar performance.
CB - Virgil van Dijk
Has struggled to handle the unpredictable Beto in the past and will have to get a grip of the Everton striker.
LB - Andy Robertson
Experience and cool heads will be required and it is why Liverpool’s vice-captain may get the nod.
CM - Ryan Gravenberch
Went on some impressive runs against PSG to break the line but a bit more discipline may be needed.
CM - Curtis Jones
Having a Scouser featuring from the outset is something that Slot may feel is useful.
RW - Jeremie Frimpong
Struggled against PSG but pace will be needed, while Mo Salah has struggled against Everton full-back Vitalii Mykolenko in the past.
AM - Florian Wirtz
Endured an underwhelming maiden season at Anfield and fans will be hoping that he can step up.
LW - Cody Gakpo
Slot may feel he needs someone more physical to match up against Everton full-back Jake O’Brien, so that is why Gakpo may be selected over Rio Ngumoha.
ST - Mo Salah
Made a difference against PSG when he was introduced earlier than expected. Salah is still potent in the final third and can play with his back towards goal. Deploying him central could surprise Everton. Alexander Isak is seemingly still not ready to start despite featuring for 45 minutes against PSG.
Woodman, Ramsay, Kerkez, Mac Allister, Nyoni, Isak, Ngumoha, Chiesa.
