Liverpool are set to undergo a major surgery of their squad this summer, and the first two names on the chopping block from Arne Slot's side have emerged.
The Reds have had a hugely disappointing season and currently sit fifth in the Premier League table, pushing to qualify for the Champions League next season, having been thrashed 4-0 on aggregate by Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals of this year's competition.
Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson have both confirmed they will leave at the end of the campaign on free transfers, but with the club admitting that there will likely need to be sales before any new faces can be signed following their £450m splurge last year, it has now emerged who is at the front of the queue.
Mac Allister and Jones 'Happy' to Leave Liverpool
Alexis Mac Allister
According to a report by journalist Alan Nixon, writing on his Patreon, midfield duo Curtis Jones and Alexis Mac Allister have emerged as the players who are at the top of the list to depart Anfield this summer.
The club are eyeing midfield reinforcements for the new season, with GIVEMESPORT sources understanding that Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton is a target, but they will need to sell in order to raise funds for any deals.
Both players have seen their form dip this season which has put their starting place in the side at risk, and both players would be 'happy' to leave the club in order to play more regularly elsewhere.
Mac Allister is likely to put himself in the shop window during the World Cup this summer, with Atletico Madrid understood to be showing an interest in the Argentine, while Jones is entering the final 12 months of his contract and is attracting interest from both Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.
Liverpool Need a Full Rebuild
Curtis Jones
A major rebuild is expected this summer, with signings all over the pitch needed. Jeremy Jacquet is already on his way, but the squad is already quite thin even before any exits, meaning several arrivals are likely to be needed.
But while Jones and Mac Allister have been key to the club's success in recent times, neither are irreplaceable. Mac Allister has struggled massively this season and a move is probably best for all parties, while Jones has never been able to cement himself as an undisputed starter, so a big offer could make it make sense for a deal once again.
Selling both players would allow for Slot to bring in new midfielders that match what he wants and provide fresh blood, and with both players happy to move on, it seems inevitable now.
