Confirmed Liverpool XI to face Everton

Liverpool’s first trip to Everton’s new Hill Dickinson Stadium is as big a Merseyside derby as we’ve had in recent years — Arne Slot has made his team selection.

With the clock winding down to kickoff at 2 pm, the tension is building on the blue side of the city. Liverpool are chasing Champions League qualification and have the chance to stretch their lead on Chelsea to seven points.

Is a fifth-place finish enough to warrant Arne Slot remaining Liverpool manager?

Everton have their own European ambitions, and will be desperate to get something from the game with three points enough to take them just one place behind Liverpool. For this high-stakes afternoon clash, Slot has gone with a side that won’t raise many eyebrows.

Liverpool starting XI vs Everton

The return of Premier League action has been super underwhelming after a blockbuster week of European action, but Liverpool can buck that trend with the lineup the Dutchman has gone with.

Giorgi Mamardashvili starts in goal behind a back four of Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Andy Robertson and one of Curtis Jones or Dominik Szboslzlai.

In midfield, Ryan Gravenberch anchors the side alongside whoever isn’t playing right-back, with Florian Wirtz further forward. It is a trio that gives Liverpool energy, control and plenty of quality on the ball.

Further forward, Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo make up the front three. Salah and Gakpo provide the width, while Isak leads the line.
