Liverpool have clinched a win over Everton at the death.
It was an end-to-end Merseyside derby, living up to the occasion and more. Liverpool thought they had gone behind halfway through the first half when Iliman Ndiaye converted from close range. But the goal was ruled out and just three minutes later, Mohamed Salah put the visitors in front.
After the break, Everton started to get back into the tie and equalised shortly before the hour mark. The game became far more open then, but it wouldn’t be until the 100th minute when Virgil van Dijk grabbed a huge winner. 2-1.

Liverpool player ratings vs Everton
Giorgi Mamardashvili – 5
The Georgian made a couple of key saves before Everton found their opener, but the follow-through from Beto caused him to be stretchered off before the hour mark.
Curtis Jones – 7
Jones can hold his head high after that performance. The local lad understands what winning this derby means, and he did everything he could to drive his team to a positive result with solid defending and pinpoint distribution — all while playing out of position.
Ibrahima Konate – 5
Konate should have done better in tracking the run of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, who got behind him too easily to square the ball to Beto. Didn’t look all that comfortable in possession.

Virgil van Dijk – 8
Van Dijk never has the best of times against the big Everton centre-forward, and he didn’t look all that comfortable in this tie. But when you win the derby in the 100th minute, that’s what really matters.
MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES
Andy Robertson – 6
Robertson may be searching for a new club, but you can see the passion he still plays with in a red shirt. Came close to scoring a screamer.
Ryan Gravenberch – 5
Gravenberch is starting to get back in an attacking rhythm and those progressive runs can be a huge asset for Arne Slot. There are moments of sloppiness that need to be weeded out, though.
Dominik Szoboszlai – 5
A quiet game from the Hungarian with no real offensive impact until a quality corner delivery.
Florian Wirtz – 4
Wirtz has received criticism for his Liverpool form in recent weeks, and this was another display that failed to excite. There are too many times when he looks to pass despite having the chance to take a pop at goal.
Mohamed Salah – 7

Salah tied Steven Gerrard for most Merseyside derby goals in the long history of this rivalry with nine. He was lively from the off and looked a threat from the right — something we haven’t seen much of recently. More of that in the final weeks of the season would be brilliant.
Cody Gakpo – 7
He may be an easy target for criticism, but this performance from Gakpo was one of his best this season. He looked far more dangerous than Isak and the assist for Salah was of the very highest quality.
Alexander Isak – 4
It still feels strange seeing Isak in a Liverpool shirt. Maybe that’s because he just doesn’t look the same player who dominated at St James’ Park. It’s understandable given his lengthy absence through injury, but the hope is that he can rediscover that sharpness. It wasn’t there today at all.
Substitutions
Freddie Woodman – 6
Mamardashvili was unable to carry on after his collision, giving Woodman his Premier League debut. He kept a clean sheet for his part, so can’t fault the third-choice keeper but there were a couple of dodgy moments.
Rio Ngumoha – 5
Ngumoha wasn’t given another start despite such an impressive showing last weekend. Had a few 1v1s on the left, but didn’t cause too much trouble for the defenders. When he did get a chance in injury time, he should have done better to get it on target.
