**Liverpool have secured a massive win against Everton courtesy of captain fantastic Virgil van Dijk.**
The Reds who have been poor for most part of the season are fighting hard to secure a top five finish which will confirm them a place in the Champions League next season.
Currently sitting 5th, three points behind Aston Villa, Arne Slot’s men needed a win to extend their lead to seven points after Chelsea’a defeat yesterday.
Mohamed Salah, who played his final Merseyside derby, gave Liverpool the lead in the first half with a trademark finish after an excellent assist from Cody Gakpo.
But Everton equalised in the second half, Beto lunging in on Kevin Dewsbury Hall’s pass to make it 1-1, with Giorgi Mamardashvili injuring himself in process.
And just when it looked like the game would end in a draw, it was Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk who stepped up and scored a header from a corner in the 11th and final minute of stoppage time.
