Dominik Szoboszlai has claimed that Arne Slot was right to look forward to a ‘bright future’ for the current Liverpool team.
Slot annoyed some supporters in the wake of the midweek defeat against Paris Saint-Germain, in which he insisted that the future looked good on the back of what he saw as a battling display against the European champions.
Though fans did not agree with the Dutchman’s assertion at the time, things are looking much more positive after Liverpool‘s win over Everton on Sunday, with Szoboszlai coming out to declare that he feels the same way as Slot.

Szoboszlai thinks Liverpool have a bright future
Slot seems to have frustrated and angered Liverpool supporters every time he has opened his mouth in the past six months, continually digging a hole and alienating himself from the fanbase.
The comments about a bright future may have been well-intended from the 47-year-old, but it smacked of delusion after such a comprehensive dismantling against PSG.
Nevertheless, the logic behind the comments is there. Liverpool have a team full of young players who can grow together, and according to Szoboszlai, things will get better for this group.
“A win always changes the mood but we have to stay on the floor and keep working hard every day,” he said via the Liverpool ECHO after Sunday’s win. “We have to keep fighting for the Champions League spots and it is going to be hard games ahead of us.”

“It is always hard when you play against the teams that are close to you – Manchester United, Chelsea, Aston Villa, Crystal Palace. You have to always be ready and to fight for them.
“I think what [Arne Slot] said [about Liverpool having a bright future] is right,” the Hungarian added. “We brought in new players – young, talented players.
“We know what they can do and that they can help the team – that is why they are here. I’m really looking forward to playing with them for the next five games, for sure, and hopefully in the future as well.”
Szoboszlai updates on contract talks
As well as throwing his weight behind Slot and his young Liverpool teammates, Szoboszlai also commented on his own future after Sunday’s win.
The 25-year-old is currently in the middle of contract discussions with the Reds, and he once again spoke out to declare his happiness at the club.

“As I said (a few weeks ago), there has been no real progression,” he said. “So I cannot say anything new about my contract situation. We have a lot of games to go and I am focusing on that.
“As you guys maybe know, my contract ends in 2028, so I am ready to go every day, every week, and then let’s see. Of course I see myself here in the long term, but as I say, it is not really in my hands any more.
“I love being here, as I’ve said many times. I love the fans and I really like to be here. My family is happy. Let’s see. I’m completely relaxed. We have five games to go. Then I am going to rest – a big one, after my international break. Then we will see.”
Having provided the game-winning assist during Sunday’s derby, Szoboszlai again underlined his importance to this team. If Liverpool are to have as bright a future as he and Slot are both predicting, then the Hungary captain has to be a part of it.
