Giorgi Mamardashvili is expected to be out for at least two weeks after the Liverpool goalkeeper was stretchered off during the Merseyside derby on Sunday.
The Reds’ backup goalkeeper had to be replaced after colliding with Everton goalscorer Beto in the act of the Toffees equalizing in the second half.
With usual the No.1 Alisson Becker also out, third-choice keeper Freddie Woodman had to be called upon from the bench, with Mamardashvili sent to hospital in order to gauge the severity of his injury - and the Georgia international now looks set for a spell on the sidelines, adding to Arne Slot’s issues.
According to The Athletic, Mamardashvili’s injury is not as bad as first feared, but he is still expected to spend at least two weeks out of action.
Alisson is nearing a return, but is expected to remain out for the visit of Crystal Palace this weekend, meaning Woodman looks set to make his first Premier League start for the club.
Mamardashvili is now out of hospital, having suffered a deep wound to his knee. No exact timeframe has been given for his recovery, although it is suggested he could be out for between two to four weeks.
The 25-year-old posted on social media as he gave an update on his condition, and thanked fans for their support.
"Thank God everything is fine," Mamardashvili posted. "Thank you all so much for your support and for being by my side. I’ll be back soon. Big win in the derby and 3 points."
As well as missing Saturday's game against Palace, Mamardashvili is also likely to miss crucial games against Manchester United on May 3, and Chelsea on May 9. Alisson, meanwhile, is said to be targeting a return in the United game.
Speaking after Sunday's game, Slot said on Mamardashvili's injury: "It didn't look great, it was a big wound and he went straight to the hospital. Let's see how that works out for him but fear worst - not for a long-term injury but for next week."
Liverpool.com says: That's a big blow for Mamardashvili and Liverpool ahead of a decisive run of games to the end of the season.
Hopefully, Alisson will be able to return sooner rather than later, although we're sure Slot would have preferred to have the option to ease the Brazilian back into the side, rather than thrown him straight back in as soon as possible.

There will be a lot of pressure on Woodman now, but he is experienced enough to step up to the task against Palace, and he will need to be ready for the test.
