Liverpool have made RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande their top target to replace Mohamed Salah this summer, with talks already held, according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.
The Reds are already preparing for the summer window despite being in a battle to qualify for next season's Champions League competition, with star winger Salah confirming he will leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the season.
A number of players have been linked with a potential move to Anfield to replace him in Arne Slot's squad, but it has now emerged that club chiefs have already given the green light to a move for Ivory Coast star Diomande ahead of the window opening.
Liverpool Make Diomande Top Target
Yan Diomande
Diomande, who has been described as 'outrageous', has been one of the breakout stars in European football this season since making the move to the Bundesliga, registering 13 goals and six assists for Leipzig in all competitions.
His performances have seen some of Europe's top clubs take an interest in the 19-year-old ahead of the transfer window, which has seen Leipzig slap a huge £87m price tag on his head in order to fend off interested parties.
But Liverpool chiefs have now unanimously approved a move to bring him to Anfield as Salah's long-term replacement, and concrete talks are already ongoing with his representatives in order to find an agreement on personal terms.
There are currently no talks ongoing between the clubs, while Paris Saint-Germain have also held talks with his agents about taking him to France. Leipzig are also pushing to hand him a new contract with improved terms to keep him at the club for at least another year.
Diomande Wants Liverpool Move
Yan Diomande
Despite interest from several top clubs around Europe, Diomande has already made it clear that he wants to join Liverpool above all other options, as it is his dream to make the move.
That will surely mean that personal terms are absolutely no problem whatsoever, but dealing with RB Leipzig will not be easy to do and they will be forced to pay a premium to get their man.
Securing Champions League football will go a long way to securing the funds for a deal too, but FSG made it clear last summer that when they want a player they will do whatever they can to get him in, which bodes well for this race too.
