**Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones is “not happy” with his current squad status at the club, and “could look to” leave at the end of the season.**
The 25-year-old impressed at right-back in the Reds’ 2-1 win at Everton on Sunday, driving forward in the latter exchanges when others appeared to be tiring.
It has been a frustrating season for Jones, however, who has found himself out of favour under Arne Slot, even while the likes of Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister have struggled for form.
Speaking to [_Football Insider_](https://www.footballinsider247.com/curtis-jones-liverpool-star-not-happy-as-summer-exit-beckons/), journalist Pete O’Rourke claimed that the midfielder may look for a new challenge, acting as a potential blow for Liverpool and Slot, should the Dutchman stay on as head coach:
_“We know last season there was a big overhaul of players at Anfield with big-name signings coming in. Players were sacrificed to help fund that, and it’s probably going to be a similar case this year, I’m sure there’s a few players who will be moving on._
_“You’ve got the likes of Curtis Jones, who hasn’t got long left on his contract at Anfield, so his situation could change in the summer transfer window._
_“He’s not happy being a fringe player at Liverpool at the moment, he wants to be more involved so he could look to move on. There’s uncertainty about a few players in that Liverpool squad.”_

Jones can be a divisive figure at times, with some feeling he is overrated because he is a local player, and others feeling the exact opposite.
As is so often the case, though, there is a middle ground with him, and ultimately, he is a strong squad player who knows the values of Liverpool as a club.
He may not be a regular starter moving forward, but having an individual of his ilk around can only be a good thing, with his versatility also useful, as well as his press-resistance, averaging a [94% pass completion rate](https://www.fotmob.com/en-GB/matches/liverpool-vs-everton/2hagld?player=933768#4813699:tab=lineup) against Everton.
It may be that Jones wants a new challenge, moving to a club where he can be a key starter, but it would be a shame to see him move on, albeit not a disaster.
