Liverpool are among the clubs linked with RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande.
Red Bull Leipzig will demand in excess of £85 million for Yan Diomande in the summer transfer window, reports suggest.
The winger has been in flying form for Die Roten Bullen since his arrival from CD Leganes last season. He had plundered 13 goals and eight assists in 32 appearances, with Leipzig sitting third in the Bundesliga. As a result, Diomande has attracted plenty of interest, with Liverpool among the admirers.
As the Saxony outfit look set to return to the Champions League next campaign, they will not be under financial pressure to sell. According to Sky Sports Germany reporter Phillipp Hinze, Leipzig would look to earn more than four times the £18 million they paid for Diomande last summer if they were to entertain an exit. Instead, Ole Werner’s side want to hand the 19-year-old a new, improved contract.
He posted on X: “RB Leipzig are now demanding more than €100m for Yan Diomande. Since qualification for the Champions League is very realistic, Leipzig no longer have financial pressure to sell. Diomande’s value is rising. The €20m transfer fee paid to Leganés last summer has, in the club’s view, more than quintupled in value.
“Meanwhile, Leipzig are planning a contract adjustment, including a salary increase, to keep Diomande until 2027. Leipzig are fighting to retain the Ivorian for another season. But: Diomande is not untouchable. Depends on potential offers.”
Liverpool are in the market for at least one winger this summer to replace Mo Salah. The Kop legend will bring the curtain down on his Reds career after nine years. Salah will depart as Liverpool’s third-all time top goalscorer and leaves a hug void to fill.
According to Florian Plettenberg, also of Sky Sports Germany, Liverpool have made contact with Diomande’s agency Roc Nation Sport, although Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be keen.
Plettenberg wrote: “Yan #Diomande is now Liverpool’s top target to replace Mo Salah, with the move approved by all #LFC decision-makers. Concrete talks are ongoing with his new representatives at Roc Nation Sports, although no agreement has been reached yet and the clubs have not entered negotiations. RB Leipzig are keen to adjust his salary and extend his contract. PSG, led by Luis Campos, are also in the race and have already held a meeting with his agents.”
