It is believed that Parrott would be keen on a return to north London even if the Lilywhites are relegated to the Championship.

The Irishman was determined to succeed at Tottenham and it is claimed that feeling has not changed years on from departing.

Everton’s new academy director Dean Rastrick knows Parrott well following their time together at Hotspur Way.

However, it already looks as if Everton may have an uphill task on their hands if they want to sign the Irishman in the summer.

Everton are desperate for better strikers

Beto played well in the Merseyside Derby, but his replacement, Thierno Barry, left a lot to be desired.

Chris Sutton criticised Barry’s efforts against Liverpool, a sentiment shared by much of the Everton fanbase following Sunday’s game.

It is clear that Angus Kinnear and his recruitment staff must find improvements up top for next season if Everton are to compete.

Parrott is a player who has shown immense potential, with 30 goals for AZ Alkmaar this season.

With the striker keen to return to Spurs, perhaps European qualification could help Everton’s hopes of landing the striker.
