Liverpool
BK Häcken’s Abdoulaye Doumbia dreams of joining Liverpool at some point in the future.
The 18-year-old has named Liverpool as one of his dream clubs, along with Real Madrid and Barcelona.
He joined the Swedish club at the start of this year, after reportedly having trials at both IFK Göteborg and IFK Värnamo.
Prior to his move to Europe, the youngster was at ASEC Mimosas in the Ivory Coast.
Since joining BK Häcken, the youngster played five matches so far.
On Monday, Sport Witness covered claims from Sweden about Wolverhampton Wanderers’ interest in BK Häcken’s Silas Andersen.
Sportbladet covered that report, which mainly focused on RC Strasbourg, OGC Nice and Stade Rennais’ interest in Abdoulaye Doumbia. The Ligue 1 trio had sent their scouts to Sweden to take a closer look at him.
Big plans, but for the future
Fotboll Direkt got in touch with the teenager to get his response to Sportbladet’s claim of interest from France.
He said: “I didn’t know that. All I want is to play and help the team. If I’m on the pitch, I play my football and after that it’s done. I’m not thinking about other clubs now. My focus is on my club BK Häcken and after that we’ll see.”
The outlet were curious to find out Abdoulaye Doumbia’s future ambitions and that’s when he mentioned his desire to secure a big move.
“My dream is to play in the best leagues, the biggest tournaments like the Champions League. I want to play with my national team in the World Cup and win trophies,” Doumbia explained.
When pressed further whether he has a dream club, he mentioned Arne Slot’s side.
“I like Real Madrid and Barcelona too. I can also imagine playing for clubs like Liverpool,” he added.
Our take: Long way to Liverpool or any top club
The midfielder has played a handful of matches since moving to Europe. He has to be a standout performer for BK Häcken to secure a move to a club in the top five leagues.
In short, it unlikely for Liverpool, Real Madrid or Barcelona to try and sign him anytime soon. There’s no harm in planning big.
