Sky Sports provide huge Tuesday afternoon update on Arne Slot

Arne Slot has been under growing pressure in recent weeks, with Liverpool’s form leaving real doubts over whether he would remain in charge beyond the end of the season.

Results have not always been convincing and there has been plenty of speculation surrounding his long-term future at Anfield, particularly with the race for a top-five finish still not fully secured. However, the picture looks more positive for Liverpool after the weekend, with their Champions League hopes receiving a timely boost.

It had already been widely suggested that Slot had done enough to keep his job heading into next season, and that stance now appears to have been confirmed following an update from Sky Sports News.

Sky Sports update claims Arne Slot will be Liverpool manager next season

On a Sky Sports News broadcast, it was reported that: “Arne Slot is expected to continue as Liverpool head coach next season, Sky Sports News understands, as the club close in on Champions League qualification.”

Reporter Vinnie O’Connor went on to say he expects him to be in the dugout at the start of next season, with Liverpool accepting of the fact that this was a season of transition. The distance to Chelsea in sixth has played a massive part.

That update is the clearest indication yet that Liverpool are planning to stick with the Dutchman ahead of the summer, despite the scrutiny he has faced during a difficult spell.

There had already been a growing feeling that Slot would be given more time, especially if Liverpool could steady themselves in the closing weeks of the campaign and stay on course for the Premier League top five.

This latest claim appears to confirm exactly that. While it is the outcome many were expecting, Slot will still need a strong finish to the season to fully remove any lingering doubt and make sure Liverpool end the campaign on a positive note.
