Liverpool "willing to accelerate" efforts to sign "complete" attacker who Kylian Mbappe rates

Liverpool are now reportedly “willing to accelerate” their efforts to complete the signing of Tottenham striker Randal Kolo Muani this summer.

The Reds signed both Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike last summer, but it has ended up being a cruel first season at Anfield for both players.

Isak broke his leg away to Spurs back in December, and has looked a million miles from his best throughout the campaign, while Ekitike could miss the rest of 2026 with a serious achilles injury.

It may mean that Liverpool now delve into the market for another striker this summer, and an intriguing transfer rumour has now emerged.

According to Calciomercato [via Sport Witness], the Reds are “willing to accelerate” their attempts to acquire Muani’s signature from Spurs.

The north Londoners are on the verge of a shock relegation from the Premier League, and the France international surely wouldn’t stay put if they are playing Championship football next season.

Juventus are keen on signing him, too, having had him on loan last season, but Liverpool’s interest in him is seen as “bad news” for the Serie A giants.

Is Randal Kolo Muani good enough for Liverpool?

This is a surprise update, considering Muani hasn’t exactly set the world alight in a Spurs shirt, only scoring once in 25 appearances in the Premier League in 2025/26 to date.

In fairness, though, the 27-year-old is a France international for a reason, with Real Madrid superstar and international colleague Kylian Mbappe speaking highly of him in the past:

“He is a striker who offers different game options to our team. He is very complete and has an impressive volume of play. We are happy with the game he played on Friday and I hope he scores tomorrow (Monday). We will try to get him to score a goal.”

Muani famously missed a glorious chance to win the 2022 World Cup with France, being denied by Emiliano Martinez in the dying seconds of extra-time in France’s final defeat to Argentina.

That highlights his lack of ruthlessness in key moments, and while he possesses quality on his day, Liverpool signing him would feel like a risk, especially as he isn’t a young player with his best years ahead of him.
