Randal Kolo Muani
Liverpool will challenge Juventus in the chase for Tottenham Hotspur’s Randal Kolo Muani in the summer.
Last summer, Tottenham took the striker on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, who refused to let him return to Juventus.
Tottenham don’t have an obligation or option to make his stay permanent, and he has to return to PSG. The 27-year-old could continue in the Premier League by making a switch to Liverpool.
His failure to impress for Tottenham in the league doesn’t seem to have put off Arne Slot’s side.
The frontman’s Premier League stats are as follows:
Appearances: 25
Total minutes: 1,382
Goals: 1
Assists: 1
Expected Goals: 1.89
Expected Assists: 1.49
On Tuesday, Sport Witness covered claims from Italy that the Reds enter race to sign him and that’s bad news for Juventus.
Liverpool complicate case for Juventus
Gazzetta dello Sport now pick up on that and cover the latest on the Anfield club and the Old Lady.
The newspaper state Liverpool are looking at Randal Kolo Muani to replace Mohamed Salah, who will leave after this season.
The ‘alarm bells are ringing’ at Juventus because Liverpool have ‘shown strong interest’ in the France international.
He spent the second half of last season on loan at the Turin club, who failed to extend his stay. This allowed Tottenham to sign him, but the Serie A side are again chasing him for the summer. He has always shown his willingness to join the Italian club.
Gazzetta state the striker earns €7m per year and is valued at €35m, and both are within Juve’s reach. The case becomes complicated with the Merseyside club entering the race.
Liverpool’s concrete interest in Kolo Muani forces Juventus to take countermeasures. The latter have no choice but to accelerate contact with his camp to try and beat the Reds.
The Champions League qualification will make it relatively easier for Juventus to fend off the competition from Liverpool. They are now fourth in the table, five points ahead of fifth placed Como.
Our take: Kolo Muani mainly to replace Ekitiké
Randal Kolo Muani has mainly operated as a No.9 and a handful of times on both wings.
Mohamed Salah’s preferred role at Liverpool is on the right wing and therefore, it doesn’t make sense for the Tottenham Hotspur man to replace him.
Meanwhile, Kolo Munai could be a suitable option to replace Liverpool striker Hugo Ekitiké, who will be out for long after suffering a serious setback earlier this month.
