'Nowhere near good enough': National media slam Everton transfer target after 3/10 display

Everton are exploring the market for a centre-forward ahead of the summer transfer window.

Troy Parrott has been linked to the Hill Dickinson Stadium after his prolific season for Dutch outfit AZ Alkmaar.

How good of a signing would Troy Parrott be for Everton this summer? 🤩

He simply cannot stop scoring for AZ Alkmaar! 🔥

Everton have also looked at Alexander Sorloth, who has netted a commendable 17 goals for Atletico Madrid this term.

One of David Moyes’ other rumoured targets was in action last night, and he was heavily criticised by the national media for a really poor display.

Everton held talks to sign Liam Delap last summer, but the England under-21 international decided to sign for Chelsea instead.

The Toffees remain interested in Delap and could make another swoop for the out-of-form Chelsea frontman.

However, perhaps that isn’t such a good idea based on how poorly the 23-year-old has been performing.

Delap, who’s scored just one Premier League goal this season, was heavily criticised for his display in the 3-0 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion last night.

Everton fans, how do you feel about our European football prospects now with five games to go? 🤔

The defeat to Liverpool was a sickener, but we're still right in the mix! 🙏

Here’s what Goal had to say.

3/10- “With Joao Pedro still sidelined through injury, the former Ipswich No.9 led the line once again, and while one can’t fault him for effort, it’s now painfully obvious that he’s nowhere near good enough for the highest level. Hauled off with 18 minutes to go even though his side desperately needed a goal.”

The Standard added.

4/10 – “Another game passed Delap by without him finding the net. The striker is struggling to do any more than holding the ball up of late.”

Football London wrote.

4/10 – “Had no service at all, really, yet again. Poor when he did have the ball.”

Everton would be much better off going for a striker who’s in form and full of confidence so that he can hit the ground running next term.
