Liverpool now "considering" making move for "amazing" Premier League player to replace Mo Salah

Liverpool are reportedly “considering” making a move for West Ham and England winger Jarrod Bowen in the summer transfer window.

The need to replace Mohamed Salah at the end of the season is clear, with RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande emerging as the rumoured first-choice option to come in.

The Ivorian is only 19 years of age, however, and it could be that a more experienced figure is also looked at, which is where Bowen comes into play.

According to DaveOCKop on X [via Caught Offside], Liverpool are eyeing a potential move for the West Ham captain, especially if the Hammers suffer relegation from the Premier League:

“Liverpool are considering making a summer move for Jarrod Bowen. The West Ham player is admired at Liverpool and has been linked in the past. It would be no surprise if Liverpool made a move, particularly if West Ham get relegated.”

Does Jarrod Bowen to Liverpool make sense?

Bowen has enjoyed a brilliant career, becoming a West Ham legend, not to mention scoring 64 goals and registering 51 assists in the Premier League, with manager Nuno Espirito Santo heaping praise on him in recent days:

“He’s been amazing. Jarrod has been huge for us. He leads by example. The teammates trust him. He’s the club captain. It means a lot. He’s taking on board this responsibility. Jarrod doesn’t stop for one minute. This is the main message that we want as a squad to see. Look, no matter which situation we are in, we keep giving it, we keep insisting, we keep believing. And Jarrod is the proof of that.”

A few years ago, there would have been plenty of sense in Liverpool signing Bowen, but he turns 30 later this year, so he wouldn’t be a long-term signing with sell-on value.

For that reason, a move should be avoided, with the England international arguably not quite the force he was at his peak, despite netting eight goals and assists apiece in the league this season.

Granted, signing both him and Diomande could be shrewd, giving Liverpool both experience and youth, but the funds need to be spent on other areas of the pitch.
