Dominik Szoboszlai has insisted he remains “completely relaxed” about his contract situation at Liverpool, despite ongoing negotiations over a new deal showing little recent progress.
The Hungary international, whose current contract runs until 2028, has been in discussions with LIVERPOOL for several months over improved terms. However, speaking after the club’s recent victory over Everton, Szoboszlai acknowledged there has been no significant breakthrough in talks so far
“There has been no real progression, so I cannot say anything new about my contract situation,” said the 25-year-old.
“We have a lot of games to go and I am focusing on that. Of course I see myself here in the long term but, as I say, it is not really in my hands any more.
“I love being here, as I said many times. I’m completely relaxed.
“We have five games to go, then I am going to rest – a big one – after my international break. Then we will see.”
Szoboszlai’s relaxed stance is likely to reassure supporters, particularly given his importance to the team during a challenging campaign. The midfielder has been one of Liverpool’s standout performers this season, contributing goals and assists while also taking on increased leadership responsibility under manager Arne Slot.
Nevertheless, the absence of progress in negotiations leaves a degree of uncertainty. Reports suggest Liverpool are keen to secure his long-term future sooner rather than later, especially amid interest from top European clubs, including Real Madrid.
The situation is further complicated by Liverpool’s broader contract strategy, with the club also working to tie down other key players ahead of the summer window. Talks involving Szoboszlai are understood to be ongoing, and there remains confidence that an agreement can eventually be reached.
For now, however, both player and club appear in no immediate rush. With more than two years remaining on his current deal, Szoboszlai holds a strong negotiating position, while LIVERPOOL retain time to secure terms that reflect his growing influence within the squad.
As the summer approaches, attention will inevitably intensify around Anfield. But for Szoboszlai, the message is clear: there is no panic.
His performances continue to speak loudly, and while negotiations may be progressing slowly, his commitment — at least for now — remains firmly aligned with Liverpool’s future ambitions.
