Report: Liverpool star with over 200 appearances 'strongly considering' move to Premier League rival

Curtis Jones is one of Liverpool’s longest-serving players, having been at the club since he was nine, but he might not be here much longer.

The midfielder played a brilliant game against Everton and reminded everyone of the quality and versatility he still offers, even in a squad packed with options. Jones still has real value to Liverpool, but it may now come down to what he wants for the next stage of his career.

And, if the latest report is right, he sounds increasingly open to an exit, with Premier League interest already building ahead of the summer.

Curtis Jones might decide to leave Liverpool for Tottenham or Aston Villa

According to talkSPORT, Jones is ‘strongly considering’ bringing his long Liverpool career to an end this summer after ‘growing frustrated’ with his role.

The 25-year-old has started only 13 Premier League games this season, which appears to have left him thinking seriously about whether the time has come to move on.

There is said to be interest in Jones from Inter Milan, who were keen in January, but the more relevant part for Liverpool is that Aston Villa have added Jones to their list of summer targets.

Tottenham are also mentioned as a possible destination, provided they avoid relegation.

That leaves Liverpool with a decision to make as well. Jones is heading into the final year of his contract, so this is the point where the club either commit to him properly with a new deal or consider cashing in while his value is still strong.

He is still only 25 and should have the prime years of his career ahead of him, so it would be a shame to see him end up strengthening a Premier League rival — Villa moreso than Spurs. But if he is not going to get the minutes he wants at Liverpool at the peak of his powers, it would be hard to hold the decision to leave against him.
