The Liverpool player has faced Rangers on a few occasions this season.
A Premiership boss says one star linked with Rangers is keen to find a permanent home - and will command a big fee.
Luca Stephenson has spent the last couple of terms on loan from Liverpool at Dundee United. He has impressed at Tannadice under manager Jim Goodwin but uncertainty will be abound this summer when he returns to Anfield, where chances of senior minutes at this stage look slim.
Stephenson is capable of playing either full-back role or in wide midfield slots, and Rangers have been mentioned as a possible landing spot. The United manager reckons whatever happens, it won’t be a loan away from Liverpool, as Stephenson will want something more permanent.

Goodwin also provided an update on Amar Fatah, who was dubbed in some quarters after the most recent United win over Celtic as having the quality to get into the Hoops team on that day, while murmurings of Rangers have also flared up. Fatah has been on loan at United from City Group-owned Troyes in France. Goodwin said: "Can Luca come back again? Honestly, my feeling is Luca wants to be somewhere permanently.
“He has been on loan for a few successive seasons his time at Dundee United is the longest he's stayed anywhere for a considerable period and I'd expect him to want that stability and chance to kick on. Luca's still under contract at Liverpool and, given how well he's done here, there would be a considerable transfer fee.
“There's a similar situation with Amar Fatah. I know he is highly rated by the City Group, and they have placed a lot of investment in his progress. They signed him for a lot of money and will obviously have their thoughts on his next step. So, we wait and see. We've had brilliant feedback from the City Group on his progress. They have been delighted with his performances and know this has been, by far, his most successful loan spell, to date."

Who could Rangers sign from Liverpool?
Mick Brown, an experienced scout at Premier League level with the likes of Manchester United and West Ham, previously revealed Rangers scouting missions on the Tangerines’ Liverpool loanee. He said on Football Insider: “Rangers have to be clever about where they sign their players.
“When there’s a young player who has been playing in the Scottish Premiership and playing at a top-class level, that won’t have gone unnoticed. They’ve been watching him all season, and they got to see him up close in the game against Dundee United, where by all accounts he was very impressive. So that will have done the chances of a move no harm.
“It’s always good to see how a player performs against the better sides rather than just an average level, so after that, they’ll be even more keen to do a deal. A lot will depend on Liverpool and how they see him because they’ve had their own issues at right-back, but if he’s available, Rangers are right there.”
