Report: PSG already in talks to sign £42m West Ham player Everton want in huge blow to David…

Everton are hoping to sign Mateus Fernandes from West Ham this summer.

It was TEAMtalk who claimed Everton want Fernandes after his impressive campaign at West Ham, where he has been a shining light in an otherwise tough campaign following a £42m move from Southampton in August.

However, the likes of Manchester City are also said to be interested, and the battle for his signature has now become a lot harder for The Friedkin Group after PSG opened talks to sign the Portugal international – according to Foot Mercato.

Everton fans, how do you feel about our European football prospects now with five games to go? 🤔

The defeat to Liverpool was a sickener, but we're still right in the mix! 🙏

PSG in talks to sign Everton target Mateus Fernandes

The reigning champions of Europe have already found plenty of success in the Portuguese market, signing the likes of Joao Neves, Nuno Mendes and Vitinha on the way to winning the UEFA Champions League last term.

Now, Foot Mercato say PSG think Fernandes can also develop into a superstar. The French news outlet believe the Parisians have already started talks with the West Ham No.18’s representatives as they eagerly try to beat others to his signature.

PSG are arguably the best side on the planet right now, so barring any late shocks, we feel confident in saying that Fernandes – who Bruno Fernandes likes – is now out of reach for Everton.

The 21-year-old was always an ambitious target, but it is good to see The Friedkin Group aiming that high in the first place. A deal would have been very expensive too, with West Ham hoping to make a profit on their £42m investment.

However, a more realistic addition could be Hayden Hackney, who Everton are monitoring. The Middlesbrough No.7 just won the Championship Player of the Season award, and a deal could be on if Boro miss out on promotion.

Everton also like Gustavo Hamer of Sheffield United, who Chris Wilder admitted could be sold this summer as the Blades aim to raise some funds.
