The striker has struggled to get going this season.
Daniel Levy surprised many when Tottenham sanctioned a move for Randal Kolo Muani on the deadline day of the summer transfer window. The Frenchman had been on the Lilywhites’ target list for a long time, but they didn’t manage to put that interest into a transfer for some time before Spurs’ former chairman brought him on a loan deal.
But in retrospect it looks like a gamble that hasn’t reaped dividends, with every passing day looking like he would return to his parent club at the end of the loan period. He has just scored 1 goal in the PL this season.
But just as Kolo Muani starts to wind down his time in north London, another Premier League side has come forth expressing interest in his signature.
Liverpool want Tottenham star
Interest is coming straight out of Merseyside, as Liverpool are thinking about making a summer move for Randal Kolo Muani. This in itself also gives you a quite deep understanding of how much potential he has given that he is out of favour in Paris and had an underwhelming time at N17, and yet he still carries enough pedigree to tempt a club as big as Liverpool to push for his signature. For Arne Slot to push the Reds for Muani will surely ruffle a few feathers in confusion at Tottenham, but given that Hugo Ekitike is facing a lengthy spell out at L4.
And this is where the Merseysiders need someone who is sharp and mobile up front and can fill in for Ekitike till the Frenchman is back. And the Reds could turn to his countryman in Kolo Muani, who is not only available but also experienced and can be brought at a reduced fee given his recent form.
PSG doesn’t want him, Tottenham won’t happen… Is Kolo Muani leading towards Liverpool?
When you look into his parent club in PSG, Luis Enrique has already started to think beyond Kolo Muani, and he is surely not in the long-term picture at Parc de Princes. And given that his contract with them runs down in 2028, the French champions will want to get him sold till they can get a decent fee for him.
For Tottenham, the situation is more dim, as his struggles this season mean it is highly unlikely for Spurs to continue with him at the helm. His loan has done little in terms of output at Hotspur Way, and it is more likely that the Lilywhites will look elsewhere.
What do you make of Liverpool’s interest in Muani?
