Issa Doumbia
Pescara, Italy – September 13 2025: Doumbia Issa of Venezia during the match Serie B between Pescara Calcio – Venezia at Adriatic Stadium
Venezia’s Issa Doumbia is now attracting the interest of Everton and Newcastle United, having previously intrigued other British clubs.
In December,Sport Witness covered Celtic’s scouting mission for the midfielder. Southampton were also in the race, having made an offer to sign him last summer.
That was made very late in the window, allowing Venezia very little time to sign a replacement. As a result, Doumbia stayed in Venice and has now come leaps and bounds.
He has played 34 times in Serie B, scoring six times and assisting five times as well. This has been key for the Lagurani, who are at the top of the table and on the verge of a return to Serie A.
This also means that attention around Doumbia has grown. Newcastle United and Everton are well in the race, with major Italian sides also keen.
Besiktas talks ongoing
La Nuova Venezia – viaTuttomercatoweb, have looked at where the 22-year-old’s future may lie.
Newcastle United and Everton have ‘expressed interest’ in the Italian, with Inter Milan and Roma following his development closely.
It doesn’t end there, as Besiktas are actually working to land him. There is an agreement over personal terms between Doumbia and the Turkish side, with an offer of €15m on Venezia’s table already.
Talks between the two clubs are ongoing too, with Besiktas pushing to close a deal.
In the meantime, the Venice club have made plans to use that money and bolster their attack when Doumbia leaves.
Our take: Deal far from done
It feels like attempts are being made to raise Doumbia’s profile, to attract as many clubs as possible. While Besiktas could be interested, a report fromMarco Conterio doesn’t even mention the Turkish club.
Moreover, how Venezia’s season ends will define everything. They are three points clear at the top and could very much be pushed into the playoffs zone.
That is why Everton and Newcastle United should continue to keep an eye on Doumbia. He boasts an ability to cover ground and adds unpredictability in the final third. Doumbia also thrives on winning the ball back, making him a good fit for English football.
