Leeds United and Brighton approached over potential deal for Liverpool playmaker - report

Leeds United 'approached' over potential deal for Liverpool playmaker Harvey Elliott

Leeds United have reportedly been offered the chance to explore a deal for Liverpool playmaker Harvey Elliott.

The 23-year-old has made 149 appearances for the Reds, but was loaned to Aston Villa last summer in a deal that included a buy clause.

It looked to be a move that would benefit all parties but Elliott has been afforded just nine outings in Villa colours. The attacking midfielder now looks set to return to Liverpool, where competition for Premier League minutes will be even sterner.

Leeds United ‘approached’ over potential Harvey Elliott move

According to TEAMtalk, Elliott’s camp are exploring options ahead of the 2026/27 campaign and have made contact with Leeds.

Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford are also said to have been approached over the attacking midfielder, who is renowned for his trickery and creativity.

His former club Fulham have also been mooted as a potential option, although their winter window signing of Oscar Bobb from Manchester City looks to have made a homecoming unlikely. Interest from Newcastle United, meanwhile, has reportedly dried up.

Although Leeds are thought to have been approached, the report has suggested the West Yorkshire club are yet to decide on whether Elliott is a player they will pursue.

Their priorities are understood to be elsewhere, but many would argue he would be a shrewd addition to Daniel Farke’s squad.

Harvey Elliott’s potential

Elliott is undeniably a player with a high ceiling and at 23, time is on the side of the versatile attacking outlet.

After Elliott’s dazzling displays for England in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship last summer, former Premier League star Joe Cole told Channel 4: "I love the kid, he plays football the right way.

“I am excited for his future. He has done a great job for Liverpool, but if he decides to move on, there are levels to move on again. That passion, he can show every week.

"Anyone outside the top six he comfortably walks into, and then two years on that level he comes back to Liverpool's level and competes.

"He started as a young man at Fulham but his learning has been spread out. Teams from all over Europe will be looking for Harvey Elliott's agent's number. He has this ability and the frustrating thing is he could do it on a consistent basis if he played regularly.

“His problem is he can do so many good things. He's a victim of his own skills and that is why he has been so good for Liverpool. They can play him anywhere."
