Massimiliano Allegri wants to get one over on his old club with Juventus coming to San Siro on Sunday, and he has a full squad to pick from.
There have been times this season in which Allegri has had such a thin squad that the bench has had seven players on it, and not all of them senior nor outfield. However, in recent weeks the health situation has gradually been improving, up to the present day.
Full health
As La Gazzetta dello Sport write, this is the period in the season when fatigue is most felt, with injuries never far away. Milan must have worked carefully to manage their strengths if Allegri can count on having the entire squad at his disposal at the end of April.
All his players have recovered, including the last to emerge from the infirmary: Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Matteo Gabbia (a key player on his return to the starting line-up against Verona) and Santiago Gimenez. The latter came on three times after his injury but still hasn’t started.
This variety allows Allegri unusual freedom of choice, even if he’ll likely use the same lineup as last Sunday, with the sole exception of Alexis Saelemaekers replacing Zachary Athekame in the right wing-back role. Up front, the Leao-Pulisic pairing should continue despite their struggles.
From yesterday’s double training session (training in the morning, a practice game in the afternoon), Max must have seen good things. The manager decided to change the weekly schedule and give the team a day off, so they will be back in on Friday.
