Enzo Maresca said he's 'in love' with Everton's newest transfer target

Everton are expected to be busy this summer transfer window.

David Moyes will be keen to add more quality and depth to his Everton squad, as his side could be in Europe.

Moyes and his Toffees chiefs have been drawing up a shortlist of targets over the last couple of months, with a striker a clear priority.

Would there be a better signing for Everton than Bowen this summer? 🤩

A centre-back is also being targeted, and Manchester City’s John Stones is believed to be on Moyes’ radar.

Now, there is a fresh link to another Premier League defender, and Enzo Maresca has previously admitted he’s ‘in love’ with the player.

Enzo Maresca loves Everton target Josh Acheampong

Everton are showing an interest in Josh Acheampong ahead of the fast-approaching summer transfer window.

For Toffees supporters who may not know much about the 19-year-old centre-back, they should be encouraged by Maresca’s previous comments about him.

Speaking last year, Maresca admitted he had fallen ‘in love’ with Acheampong.

“But the one that I fell in love with is Josh Acheampong because for me potentially he can be fantastic player, a top player for this club, and for football in general,” the Italian boss said.

Would you rather Everton sign Summerville or Bowen this summer? 👀

West Ham wingers Crysencio Summerville and Jarrod Bowen.

“A good player shows you they can play in different position and do good. He was a full back, good, midfielder, good, central defender, good, so it’s not about ‘I play in that position or in that position’ — if you are a good player you can be in different positions.

“To be honest since we started I’m in love with him but (against Legia) he showed that he can be a very good player for this club.”

As Maresca alluded to, Acheampong can play in a number of different positions, so he’d be a great addition to Everton’s squad.

The 2006-born, who has made 28 appearances for Chelsea this season, can operate as a right-back, centre-back and even as a left-back.

That kind of versatility will be crucial for Moyes next season, if indeed his side manage to qualify for Europe.

The congested fixture list will force Everton to rotate more.
