Fresh Beto injury update emerges ahead of Everton's trip to West Ham - journalist

Everton have received positive news over Beto’s fitness ahead of West Ham.

Beto was withdrawn at the weekend in the Merseyside derby, following a clash of heads with defender Ibrahima Konate.

Seemingly dazed by the incident, David Moyes was forced into withdrawing his 28-year-old striker and replacing him with Thierno Barry.

“Yeah, like you said, there’s been a lot of talk of, whether it’s concussion or not. I’m told it’s not concussion,” he said.

“Which is good news, because he can still play.” added his co-host, Ian Croll.

“Yeah, he’s eligible to play at West Ham, which he wouldn’t have been. But yeah, I think there was some problem possibly with his vision, because I could see at one point, he’s like had a golf ball style swelling, just under his eye on his cheek there, which had sort of gone up.”

This will be music to the ears of most Everton fans given the frustrations currently on display with Barry and his recent performances.

Everton will still need to evaluate Beto as he was clearly shaken by the clash of heads at the weekend.

However, without the concussion protocol, it makes his chances of playing at the weekend much higher, with the swelling on the side of his head still needing consideration.

Everton will also need to consider Beto’s contract, with just over one year remaining on his current deal.

Having netted four in his last three league games, this is exactly what Everton fans will have hoped to hear ahead of Saturday’s trip to the London Stadium.
