Liverpool Join Man Utd And City In‘Making Enquiries’For£60M Rated Diomande Alternative

Liverpool are interested in signing AC Milan winger Rafael Leao, according to reports.

The Portuguese international is expected to leave the San Siro this summer, with the Daily Mail claiming that the Rossoneri are “open” to offloading the player in order to balance the books.

Leao has had a below-par season, and with the forward having just two years remaining on his contract, the Serie A giants have decided to cash in.

The Mail report that the Reds are one of three Premier League teams who have been “making enquiries” about the 26-year-old.

Manchester United and Manchester City are also said to be weighing up their own moves for Leao ahead of the next transfer window.

Leao is cheaper than Diomande

It is believed that Yan Diomande is the top target to replace Mo Salah, but RB Leipzig’s asking price could prove prohibitive.

The Bundesliga side are said to be asking for a fee in excess of €100m (£87m), which is an eyewatering figure for someone who only made his senior debut 13 months ago.

In contrast, Leao has a lot more experience and Milan are likely to accept a bid in the region of £60m, which is significantly lower than Diomande’s valuation.

Liverpool will have concerns about Leao’s consistency

On his day, the Portuguese is one of the best wingers in the world, and he has hit double figures for goals in each of his last five campaigns for Milan.

Nonetheless, Leao blows hot and cold, and he often frustrates fans with too many ineffective displays. For that reason, some would question whether he is a suitable replacement for Salah.

Of course, Liverpool may decide to take a chance on Leao if it becomes apparent that their budget can’t stretch to purchase Diomande.
