Report: Leeds now in contact to sign "sensational" ex-Blackburn star with same agent as Stach

Leeds United have been in contact to sign Liverpool's Harvey Elliott, with the midfielder set to leave Aston Villa at the end of his loan spell.

Leeds' summer transfer plans taking shape

Leeds can start planning for the summer transfer window with a lot more certainty, having moved nine points clear of the Premier League relegation zone with a 2-2 draw at AFC Bournemouth on Wednesday night.

Sean Longstaff's last-gasp volley ensured the Whites came away with a share of the spoils, and they have now reached the magic 40-point mark, with four games still to play.

On paper, Tottenham Hotspur have a golden opportunity to close the gap tonight, as they travel to Molineux to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers, who have won just three Premier League games all season.

However, it is looking increasingly likely Daniel Farke's side will be retaining their Premier League status, and the manager will be hoping to kick on next season, should they get their recruitment right this summer.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Leeds have now been given the chance to sign Liverpool midfielder Elliott, with the Englishman set to return to Anfield when his loan spell at Aston Villa comes to an end.

The 23-year-old has no future with the Reds either, which means his agents have been working on securing him a move elsewhere, and contact has been made with the Elland Road outfit.

Although the attacking midfielder isn't wanted by Liverpool or Aston Villa, he could have a lot to give elsewhere, having built up a lot of Premier League experience, registering five goals and 13 assists in 99 top flight matches.

The former Blackburn Rovers man, who is under the same agency as Anton Stach, also made a real name for himself at Ewood Park, chipping in with 18 goal contributions in 41 Championship matches during the 2020-21 campaign.

Why Harvey Elliott has been frozen out at Aston Villa

It has been a memorable season for Aston Villa, with Unai Emery's side fourth in the table and going for Europa League glory, but Elliott hasn't had a look in, featuring for just 109 minutes in the Premier League.

An opening bid is in the works.

Emery has decided he doesn't want to sign the 28-cap England U21 international, who rakes in £65k-a-week, which is an issue, as the loan agreement is structured to make the deal permanent if he makes ten appearances.

The manager explained: "I have spoken with him two or three times about the situation. Firstly, it is my decision but also a hard situation. He is on loan but he is definitely not joining us on a permanent contract."

Elliott, who was lauded as "sensational" by The Redmen TV's Paul Machin during his Liverpool days, will be hoping he can kick on elsewhere, after what has been a completely wasted season.
