Liverpool will face strong competition in their pursuit of Yan Diomande this summer as they search for a replacement for Mohamed Salah.
With Salah set to leave at the end of the season, Fenway Sports Group have stepped up efforts to identify a successor. Replacing a player of his stature will not be straightforward, but Diomande has emerged as a leading target due to his potential to contribute goals in Arne Slot’s system.
Premier League champions Liverpool are understood to have made contact with the player’s representatives over a possible move this summer.
Their push could be strengthened by a likely Champions League finish, with the Reds currently fifth on 55 points, five clear of Brighton, who have played a game more.
However, interest is growing across Europe. According to Sky Sports News, Manchester City are monitoring attacking options and have added Diomande to a shortlist that also includes Bournemouth striker Eli Junior Kroupi, who has scored 11 goals in 29 league appearances this season.
Despite their interest, City are not short of attacking depth, with Savinho, Jeremy Doku, Omar Marmoush and Erling Haaland already providing strong options in forward areas.
Bayern Munich and Manchester United are also tracking Diomande, setting up a potential transfer battle. Paris Saint-Germain are interested in Yan Diomande and have already held talks with his representatives
RB Leipzig are reportedly demanding a fee exceeding €100 million (£87m) for Yan Diomande, with comments from the winger back in January suggesting he would favour a move to Anfield this summer.
“I want to play for Liverpool. I’m a huge Liverpool fan,” he said. “My dad dreams of seeing me play at Anfield!” The 19-year-old has enhanced his reputation with 12 Bundesliga goals this season, including a standout solo effort against Eintracht Frankfurt.
His form places him in elite company, becoming the first player of his age to reach that tally since Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho did so for Borussia Dortmund in 2019/20.
Overall, Diomande has registered 13 goals and eight assists in 32 appearances across all competitions for Leipzig this season. He joined Leipzig from Leganés for €20million last summer.
Liverpool would need to act quickly if they are keen on signing Yan Diomande, with several clubs competing for his signature.
