Liverpool signing Yan Diomande this summer seems to remain a strong possibility with reports now sharing positive news about plans to bring him to Anfield.
Diomande (19) is enjoying an incredible 2025-26 season with RB Leipzig, plundering 13 goals and 8 assists, but the underlying numbers are even more encouraging than just the goal contributions.
Reports from a few outlets share that Liverpool want to sign Diomande before the World Cup starts and that the forward wants to play for the Reds next season despite being suited by a host of top clubs.
The Ivorian is one of the best players emerging into the European game, and Liverpool are finely poised to assemble an incredible squad in phase three of their post-Klopp era.
Joining Liverpool “holds genuine appeal for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande,” according to TEAMtalk sources, “with personal terms unlikely to derail any potential deal.”
After going from scouting Diomande to planning talks and contracts, Liverpool’s approach has gone from “tentative” interest to “crystallising as a concrete pursuit,” writes Graeme Bailey.

He adds: “Liverpool, for their part, remain confident that personal negotiations would proceed smoothly should they meet the Germans’ valuation.”
Details of Diomande’s probable summer transfer to Liverpool
The report from TEAMtalk goes on to discuss the challenges that remain in Liverpool’s pursuit of Diomande, even if they expect zero issues in reaching an agreement with the player on personal terms. The Reds (£218m) have the third-highest wage bill after Man City (£289m) and Arsenal (£234m).
Leipzig want to sell Diomande for €100million (£87m), but Sky Sports contradicts this.
Sky Sports report that Leipzig will actually demand more than €100m as they believe: “The €20m transfer fee paid to Leganés last summer has, in the club’s view, more than quintupled in value. Meanwhile, Leipzig are planning a contract adjustment, including a salary increase, to keep Diomande until 2027. Leipzig are fighting to retain the Ivorian for another season. But: Diomande is not untouchable. Depends on potential offers.”
“RB Leipzig are now demanding more than €100m for Yan Diomande. Since qualification for the Champions League is very realistic, Leipzig no longer have financial pressure to sell. Diomande’s value is rising.”

£87m is a steep price but worthy if Diomande is going to be a game-changer from minute one. More than that, and Liverpool will need to be very certain he is the man to redefine Liverpool’s attack.
Higher than £87m, and Liverpool might as well be trying their luck for someone like Kvaratskhelia.
